Ford has introduced the fully redesigned 2025 Expedition, a versatile full-size SUV tailored for active families. The new model boasts advanced technology, improved capabilities, and the first-ever off-road capable Expedition Tremor.
The fifth-generation Expedition, available in standard-wheelbase and extended-length MAX versions, offers a range of new features designed to enhance the family travel experience. At the heart of these improvements is the Ford Digital Experience, centred around a 24-inch panoramic digital display.
Technology Takes Centre Stage
The Ford Digital Experience transforms the Expedition into a family command centre. The system offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, along with a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices. Driver-specific profiles allow for personalization, while integration with Google Assistant and Alexa enables voice-activated controls.
In-car streaming is now accessible via Google Play apps, including popular services like Spotify and YouTube. The new connectivity package bundles Wi-Fi hotspot capability, Google Play apps, and embedded Google Maps for seamless use.
Ford has also expanded the availability of its BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system, making it available on nearly 90% of all Expedition models. The updated version includes new features such as Lane Change Assist and In-Lane Repositioning.
Versatility and Design Innovations
The 2025 Expedition introduces several design innovations to improve versatility. The new Ford Split Gate combines the functionality of an SUV liftgate with a pickup truck tailgate, supporting up to 500 pounds and offering an available seatback that doubles as a serving table.
Inside, the available Flex Powered Console can slide back nearly eight inches, creating additional storage space and improving access for second-row passengers. The new Third-Row Flexible Seating allows for long cargo to be carried without compromising seating for six.
Expedition Tremor: Off-Road Capability
For adventure-seeking families, Ford introduces the Expedition Tremor, the most off-road capable Expedition ever. It features 10.6-inch ground clearance, 33-inch all-terrain tires, and a high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine producing 440 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque.
The Tremor includes off-road specific features like Rock Crawl Mode, Trail Turn Assist, and additional underbody protection.
Towing and Safety Enhancements
The 2025 Expedition offers improved towing capabilities, with a maximum capacity of 9,600 pounds when properly equipped. New features like Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist aim to simplify the towing process.
Ford's commitment to safety is evident in the expansion of the BlueCruise system and the inclusion of various driver assistance features across the Expedition lineup.
