Ford Revives Street Truck Craze with Performance-Tuned Maverick Lobo

Ford is set to ignite excitement in the compact truck market with the introduction of the 2025 Maverick Lobo, a street-performance version of its popular Maverick pickup. Drawing inspiration from the lowered truck era of the 1980s and 2000s, the Maverick Lobo offers a modern canvas for street truck enthusiasts.

From Concept to Reality

The Maverick Lobo's journey began in 2019 when designer Josh Blundo joined Ford and saw potential in the Maverick's clay model. His initial modifications, including a widebody kit and performance-oriented upgrades, laid the groundwork for what would become the Lobo. A special build by Tucci Hot Rods at the 2021 SEMA show further fueled interest in the concept.

Engineered for Street Performance

At the heart of the Maverick Lobo is a 2-liter EcoBoost engine paired with an on-road tuned suspension featuring specialized shocks. The truck sits lower than its standard counterpart, with a 1.27 cm drop in the front and a 2.9 cm reduction in the rear, resulting in a more aggressive stance.

Performance enhancements extend to the steering and braking systems, with the Lobo borrowing dual-piston front brake calipers from the European Focus ST. A new "Lobo mode" optimizes cornering performance and stability for closed-course driving, showcasing the truck's performance capabilities.

To ensure reliability during spirited driving, Ford has upgraded the Lobo's cooling system with a larger radiator and fan from the Maverick's 4K towing package, along with a dedicated transmission oil cooler.

Street-Inspired Design

The Maverick Lobo's exterior features a unique front fascia, painted rear bumper, and sleek 19-inch black wheels. Inside, the truck pays homage to street culture with graffiti-inspired seat designs and bold color accents like Grabber Blue and Electric Lime stitching.

Technology and Customization

Available in standard and high configurations, the Maverick Lobo offers a range of features to suit different preferences. The high configuration includes heated seats and steering wheel, Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 driver-assist technologies, and advanced towing features like Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist .

Ford has designed the Maverick Lobo to be a starting point for customization, allowing enthusiasts to create their unique vision of a modern street truck.

Pre-orders for the 2025 Maverick Lobo will open on August 1, 2024, with deliveries commencing in early 2025. The high-configuration models will have a slightly later availability.
