Ford Unveils 2025 Mustang GTD Carbon Series at Le Mans, Targeting Sub-7-Minute Nürburgring Lap

The iconic Ford Mustang has always represented the pinnacle of American muscle and performance. Now, with the debut of the all-new 2025 Mustang GTD Carbon Series at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford is raising the bar once again with a vehicle that seamlessly blends blistering speed, race-inspired agility, and uncompromising sophistication.

At the heart of the Mustang GTD's performance prowess is the new available Performance Pack. This meticulously engineered suite of upgrades aims to propel the GTD to a coveted sub-7-minute lap time at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. Dive planes and a larger splitter enhance the front fascia's aerodynamics, while underbody flaps and a rear wing drag reduction system actively manage airflow for optimal grip and stability. A Lightweight package further trims weight by removing sound-deadening material and equipping featherweight 20-inch magnesium wheels.

However, true performance extends far beyond raw numbers. The Mustang GTD's interior has been painstakingly crafted to create an immersive, driver-focused sanctuary. Standard Recaro seats provide exceptional support and comfort, even during the most spirited driving sessions. The flat-bottom steering wheel, wrapped in premium Dinamica and leather, features integrated buttons for adjusting suspension firmness and exhaust note on the fly, allowing the driver to remain fully engaged.

Complementing the steering wheel are oversized 3D-printed titanium paddle shifters, their hexagonal pattern offering a secure grip and motorsport-inspired aesthetic. Additional buttons on the centre console provide quick access to Track Apps and a front-axle lift function, ensuring the Mustang GTD is equally at home on the circuit and navigating real-world obstacles.

Visually, the Mustang GTD makes an undeniably bold statement. The exclusive Chroma Flame paint, a deep, lustrous burgundy shade, pairs exquisitely with the Carbon Series' exposed carbon fibre body elements, including the hood, roof, and rear Tech Deck. Customization options abound, from a selection of premium wheel finishes to painted brake callipers in vibrant hues like Grabber Blue.

Under the skin, Ford's engineers have integrated cutting-edge technology to elevate the Mustang GTD's driving experience. The Sync 4 infotainment system, powered by Unreal Gaming technology, features unique welcome and farewell graphics tailored specifically for the GTD. The reconfigurable 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster offers six distinct drive mode displays, including an exclusive Performance mode that strips away all extraneous information, leaving only the essentials for maximum focus.

"The Mustang GTD is a true all-rounder, excelling in every aspect of performance driving," said Chief Engineer Greg Goodall. "From its lightweight carbon fibre construction to the active aerodynamics, we've applied lessons from motorsport to create a vehicle that can conquer any challenge, whether it's carving corners or blitzing straightaways."

Design Manager Anthony Colard echoed this sentiment, stating, "The Mustang GTD doesn't just push the boundaries of performance; it elevates the entire driving experience with a premium, focused cabin that immerses you in the thrill of the drive."

As the 2025 Mustang GTD Carbon Series makes its global debut at Le Mans, it serves as a powerful statement of Ford's commitment to delivering exhilarating performance without sacrificing luxury or sophistication. With its race-bred pedigree and uncompromising attention to detail, the Mustang GTD is poised to redefine the boundaries of what a modern muscle car can be. Stay tuned as this formidable machine prepares to hit the streets, leaving an indelible mark on the automotive landscape.
